Tallmark

Privacy policy

Your book stays yours

Nothing ever comes to us. Backups go only to your own iCloud or Google Drive, and only if you turn them on. No AI, ever.

If you buy Tallmark Plus, Apple or Google and our payment service, RevenueCat, see the purchase. Never your book.

Draft, not yet reviewed by a lawyer. This page says how Tallmark works today, in plain words. It will be checked before the app launches, and the date at the top will change when it is.

The short version

What Tallmark stores
Your photos, the pages they’re on, stickers, notes, growth entries, your children’s names and birthdays, and your settings.
Where
On your phone, inside the Tallmark app.
Backups
Only if you turn them on: to your own iCloud (iPhone) or Google Drive (Android), or a backup file you save yourself.
If you buy Plus
Apple or Google take the payment. Our payment service, RevenueCat, records the purchase against a random ID made on your phone. Nothing else.
What we never collect
Your book, or anything about you. No account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no AI. We have no server that receives your photos or pages.

Who we are

Tallmark is an app for keeping a daily photo book of a child’s first years, on iPhone and Android. In this policy, “Tallmark”, “we” and “us” mean the people who make the app, and “you” means the person using it. You can write to us at hello@tallmark.app.

What Tallmark keeps, and where

Tallmark keeps everything you put in the book on your phone, in the app’s own storage:

  • the photos you take or bring in, and the day each one belongs to;
  • stickers, notes, and growth entries (weight, height and head size);
  • each child’s name, birthday, colour and card style, and bump dates if you add them;
  • your settings, such as reminder time, theme and units.

This stays on your device. We don’t run a server that receives it, and we can’t see it. Flipbooks, share cards and the photo book PDF are made on your phone.

Backups

Backup is off until you turn it on. There are three ways to keep a copy, all under your control:

iCloud, on iPhone

Tallmark copies the book into the app’s own folder in your iCloud account. Apple stores it under your Apple Account and its terms; we have no access to it.

Google Drive, on Android

You sign in with Google once, and Tallmark asks only for access to its own app data folder in your Drive (the drive.appdata permission). That folder is hidden, and Tallmark can’t see, open or change any of your other files. Google stores the backup under your Google Account and its terms; we have no access to it. Signing in is used for nothing else.

A backup file

You can also make a single backup file at any time. Tallmark hands it to your phone’s share sheet and you choose where it goes. Nothing is uploaded by the app itself.

Turning backup off stops it. Copies already in your iCloud or Drive stay there until you delete them.

Buying Tallmark Plus

Tallmark Plus is an optional purchase, made through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment under their own terms and privacy policies; we never see your card or your account details.

To know which phones have Plus, Tallmark uses a payment service, RevenueCat, on our behalf. When Tallmark opens, the RevenueCat code in the app makes a random ID for this install and sends RevenueCat that ID with your store’s purchase receipts. RevenueCat keeps a record of what was bought, when, and whether a subscription is active, and tells the app whether Plus is on.

  • It doesn’t receive your name, email, photos, pages or anything else in your book.
  • It doesn’t use advertising identifiers; no advertising integrations are turned on.
  • The random ID isn’t linked to you. Deleting the app forgets it on your phone.

Store purchase records are kept for as long as we offer Plus, so a purchase can be restored. To ask for the RevenueCat record to be deleted, write to us with the date of the purchase.

What we never collect

  • No account: there’s nothing to sign up for.
  • No analytics, crash reporting or usage tracking.
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
  • No AI services: your photos are never sent anywhere to be analysed or drawn on.
  • No selling or sharing of data. The only record kept for us is the purchase record above.

Permissions the app asks for

  • Camera, to take the day’s photo.
  • Photos, to bring in older photos you choose, and to save cards, flipbooks and the photo book where you ask.
  • Notifications, only if you turn on page-time reminders. They’re scheduled on your phone.
  • Google sign-in (Android), only if you turn on Google Drive backup.

Each one is optional, and you can change it in your phone’s settings.

Sharing

When you share a card, a flipbook or the photo book, it goes where you send it, through your phone’s share sheet. What happens next is up to the app or person you send it to.

Children

Tallmark is used by parents and carers to keep photos and notes about their children. It isn’t meant to be used by children themselves. Because we don’t collect any of it, we hold no information about children, or anyone else.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your book stays on your phone until you delete it. Deleting a page, a child’s book or the app removes that data from your phone. Backups in your iCloud or Google Drive stay there until you delete them, from your iCloud or Google account’s storage settings. A backup file is yours to keep or delete.

The website

This website has no cookies, analytics or trackers. It remembers your choice of light or dark theme in your own browser only. Our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security, for a short time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you. Because your data stays on your device and in your own cloud account, you can do all of these directly. If you have a question, write to us.

Changes to this policy

If how Tallmark handles data ever changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the app, and say so in the app’s release notes.
